DaCyfer

Raised in 3rd Ward and other notorious neighborhoods of Harris County. It was then that I began to develop a passion for music creation. The early days of true HipHop. Breakers, Poplockers, DJ’s and freestyle lyricists reigned supreme on every corner. My first musical instrument was some Casio keyboard my mother bought me after getting on her nerves for months. I started integrating the computer side of things when I was able to purchase my first used PC. Which by the way was an Atari 1040ST with a 4MB HDD running Notator Logic from Emagic. The great days of midi gear, patchboards and outboard equipment. My transition from beatmaker to producer actually came around ’95 when I worked for Motor Music together with groups like 2-4 Family, Sabrina Setlur, Karl Keaton, Rod D, Fun Factory, Captain Hollywood, A.K. Swift, R’ n’ G, Moses P and Alex Christensen, to name just a few. Later for Universal / Mercury Records I produced and wrote the title song for the Youth Snow-Event “Mountains in Motion” which takes places every year in various ski locations in Austria and Switzerland. The follow up single “Spirit of Summer” was authorised by RTL II and Yam for a Youth Summer Event which takes place every year on the Italian Adriatic Sea and now in its third decade running. These songs in cooperation with RTL II and Yam were used as placement music for sport and music events and diverse lifestyle trailers and magazines curtailed for the young market. ’95 as an artist I opened on stage for Mobb Deep, Walking Large, MC René and various other HipHop artists. In ’96 one of my more memorable highlights was as opening act for Snoop Dogg on his German tour in Munich at the Lillenthalhalle. With my own groups, Lethal Cipher, Cold Current, One Love Family and Knowtoryus, (Knowtoryus under contract then with Krüger & Dorfmeister by Compost Records) we were able to showcase on Viva TV multiple times our abilities as guests. For EastWest Records in 2000 together with Alex Belcher for the production of the act The Reannimator feat Big Daddi & Vanilla Ice “Ice Ice Baby 2001”. Further successes in the DDC (German Dance Charts) and D100 (German Top 100) followed. In 2001 I was engaged by BMG Hamburg and Rosewood Music, for the composition and production of the group Moskwa Beat. Furthermore, as a solo artist with Universal / Mercury & Kingsize during this time I went on performing tours throughout Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Croatia, North America, Mexico and Japan. Also, performances in TV-shows like, GUINNESS – The World Record Show, Tabaluga, Sat-1 Club House and performances before big crowds like the Ringfest in Cologne & Popkomm in Berlin, to name just a couple. During this time, I additionally worked with various groups and organisations, with which I developed HipHop Talent Competitions, and developed projects that intensively dealt with HipHop, House, Pop, EDM and Dance culture in Germany. With “My world is empty without You” and “Spirit of Summer”, under the artist name Cyfer, I had my first chart successes.

After a 15-year hiatus and just being me, going back to the university and picking up some degrees in audiovisual design, project management and business management and otherwise carefree enjoying all that life offers, like a junkie the urge set in. The craving was too strong, I needed to get back in the studio. From EDM to Trap, Hip-Hop to Country, Neo Soul to Pop, and all sub-genres between, I have no limits nor boundaries. Versatile artist / producer / songwriter / beatmaker / dedicated to making great music for you, your mama, planet Earth and all other interstellar beings.

If it feels good and it sounds good, then it’s music” – DaCyfer
