Ilo Mary Oluwatoni also known as Divarella, is an emerging artist and songwriter born and raised in the Western part of Nigeria. She grew up in a household where music was mostly recreational, but her deep love for music began to sprout at the early age of 5 when she made a song out of an English nursery book and then at the age of 13, when she wrote her first official song while in the middle of a school exam! She has always loved listening to the likes of Avril Lavigne, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, One direction, Maroon Five and Sia, amidst others.
While trying to navigate her purpose in the midst of the country’s harsh conditions, societal and family expectations, her music became her therapy and her diary, an outlet for sporadic inspirations and emotional creativity. She also continued in her struggle to secure a balance in her private life and her life as a budding artist. Fighting against fear and rejections, her music helped her secure the balance she sought for, over the years, thereby prompting her decision to make it her life long career. She released her first single, Know Me Now (a song about self love) on the 11th of May, 2022 as well as other singles- First Love and Reflections later that year, which were all featured on several local and international radio stations, playlists and other platforms. She dreams to become a better artist, reaching out to a wider audience through songs that resonate more, helping them heal, love and find peace within themselves just as she found hers.
