When it comes to rebuilding, Bentley Records artist Daniel Coloprisco has first-hand experience. The New Jersey-based keyboardist and songwriter spent most of his career in the Information Technology field with aspirations of eventually turning music into a full-time gig. Splitting time between his professional career and playing in prog and punk rock bands, everything seemed to be on track. “Then life happened,” he explained.
For the Indie/Classical/Alternative songwriter and musician, pulling back was never an option. Instead, Coloprisco did the opposite, and turned his negative emotions into a positive force by creating multi-genre music that has enabled him to reconnect with his core.
His initial two song EP release, included “Winter’s Song,” featuring vocalist Jes Hudak, a second place finisher in Bravo TV’s reality music competition series “Platinum Hit.” The EP received extremely favorable reviews in major music magazines, e-zines, and blogs. Also, both of the EP’s, songs, i.e. Winter’s Song and A Touch of a Feeling, were deemed exceptionally promising by TuneCore’s SoundOut crowdsourced review service, scoring an 80% and 79% respectively out of a possible 85%. As for his other songs, Dreamgirl garnered a 73% and Hang Tight a 76%. All of his releases ranked in the top 15% of 100,000 all-time songs of their genre.
Inspired by Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor and Damon Albarn of Blur and Gorillaz. Coloprisco has come a long way since his early days in Queens, New York, buying his first synthesizer as a boy with money saved from his paper route. Music was innate for him, though a career in the industry was frowned upon at the time. He says Reznor and Albarn taught him how to park his ego, and to focus on creating the finest music he could.
“I vowed to professionally record my best songs. As soon as I began to do so, a creativity wave came over me and I started to write new songs and have continued to do so. If someone is touched or derives personal meaning from my music, that would be magnificent.”
