Flora Algera

Flora Algera once decided to pick up a guitar in a rehabilitation facility, and it saved her life. In order to process some emotionally distressing experiences from her youth, as well as the rise in mental illness that she observed within her generation, Algera began to travel around America and write poetry. As a former opera singer, Algera’s sonic preferences include an alternative blending of genres out of appreciation for various styles (with an emphasis on Americana in its many forms). An avid music lover and performer from a young age, once Algera felt she had a story to tell, she began to turn her poems into songs.
“Anthem For The Psych Ward Kids”, her first single, debuted in May 2022.
Algera’s debut album, “Once Upon a Time in the West” explores the parallels between the cultural divide of our modern times and that of the old American west. It details Algera’s observations, fears, and hopes for the country she calls home. The project releases on January 6th, 2024.
Her alias, “Flora Algera” is based upon the short story “Flowers For Algernon” by American author Daniel Keyes.
